About the School

Founded in 1876 by Benedictine monks, Belmont Abbey College is a private Catholic liberal arts university. Located in Belmont, North Carolina, its 37-acre rural campus is 15 miles west of Charlotte. Enrollment is approximately 1,500 undergraduate students. Belmont Abbey is in the Conference Carolinas in the NCAA Division 2. There are also club and intramural sports on campus. There is no “Greek Life” (fraternities and sororities) on campus. Belmont Abbey College has an Office of Campus Ministry and FOCUS ministry and is one of 15 faithfully Catholic universities recommended by the Cardinal Newman Society.
