About the School

Founded in 1838, Duke University is a nondenominational private university with an endowment over $12 billion. Located in Durham, North Carolina, Duke’s 8,600-acre campus is about 30 miles northwest of Raleigh. Enrollment is approximately 6,500 undergraduate and 7,000 graduate students. Duke’s acceptance rate is less than 10%. Duke is in the Atlantic Coast Conference in the NCAA Division 1. There are also club and intramural sports on campus. Around 10% of students participate in “Greek Life” across 42 fraternities and sororities. Duke University has a Catholic Center and Thomistic Institute chapter.
