About the School
Founded in 1861, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, commonly known as MIT, is a private university with an endowment over $15 billion. Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, its 168-acre urban campus is right outside Boston. Enrollment is around 4,500 undergraduates and 7,000 graduate students. It has an acceptance rate of less than 10%. MIT is in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) in the NCAA Division 3. There are also club and intramural sports on campus. Around 40% of students participate in “Greek Life” across 26 fraternities and sororities. MIT has a Thomisitic Institute chapter, a FOCUS ministry and a Catholic Center.
