About the School
Founded in 1855, Pennsylvania State University, commonly known as Penn State, is a public research university. Penn State’s 8,000-acre campus includes 24 communities around Pennsylvania. The main campus is located in the city of State College. Enrollment is approximately 75,000 undergraduate and 20,000 graduate students. Penn State is in the Big Ten Conference in the NCAA Division 1. There are also club and intramural sports on campus. Around 17% of students participate in “Greek Life” across 40 fraternities and sororities. Penn State has a Catholic student center called the Paterno Catholic Center and a Catholic Campus Ministry.
