About the School
Founded in 1780, Transylvania University, commonly known as Transy, is a private university. Located in Lexington, Kentucky, its 46-acre urban campus is about 80 miles east of Louisville. Enrollment is approximately 1,000 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. Transylvania University is in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in the NCAA Division 3. There are also club and intramural sports on campus. Around 42% of students participate in “Greek Life” across 8 fraternities and sororities. Transy has a Catholic student organization called the Transylvania Catholic Organization.
