About the School
Founded in 1966, University of Maryland Baltimore County, or UMBC, is a public university. Located in Baltimore, Maryland, UMBC’s urban campus is 530 acres. Enrollment is approximately 11,000 students. University of Maryland, Baltimore County is in the America East Conference in the NCAA Division 1. There are also club and intramural sports on campus. Around 5% of students participate in “Greek Life” across 20 fraternities and sororities. UMBC has a Campus Ministry Center and Catholic student organization called Catholic Retrievers.
