About the School
Founded in 1876, University of Northern Iowa, or UNI, is a public university. Located in Cedar Falls, Iowa, its 916-acre suburban campus is about 100 miles northeast of Des Moines. Enrollment is approximately 9,000 undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students. University of Northern Iowa is in the Missouri Valley Conference in the NCAA Division 1. There are also club and intramural sports on campus. Around 15% of students participate in “Greek Life” across 20 fraternities and sororities. University of Northern Iowa has a St. Stephen the Witness Catholic Student Center and FOCUS ministry.
